Amputee veteran bid

Double amputee Duncan Slater set off on a 72-mile walking challenge yesterday.

The war veteran, who uses prosthetic legs after a blast in Afghanistan in 2009, plans to walk from Diss to Norwich to raise funds for cancer charities.

Duncan, from Norfolk, has done gruelling treks all over the world and was also the first double amputee to ski to the South Pole.
