Looking like a goddess is so easy.. if you fake it
cellulite, stretchmarks and saggy tummy. The results make me want to weep for every single girl growing up believing they’ll never be slim/toned/ bronzed/ busty enough to measure up to social media standards and every mum who says they’ll never dare wear a bikini again.
Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha, 55, tried copying Danae’s tricks and was astonished by how they changed her look.
We’ve long known Instagram images aren’t “real”. We’re well aware of the use of Photoshop and filters to transform the “pretty” into the “perfect”. What we’ve seen less of, until now, is such ungilded proof with fulsome explanation of how it’s done.
Digital altering often leaves tell-tale clues left behind, like wonky backgrounds where tweaking has been carried out on a bumpy silhouette. The Kardashians have been rumbled umpteen times. But we’ve been fooled into thinking these are “minor adjustments”, not full-on deceptions.
When paparazzi pics appeared of Kim Kardashian on holiday in Mexico, they showed extensive cellulite on that famous derriere. Kim was so horrified, she claimed the shots had been altered to make the dimply skin look worse than it really was.
In other words, she’s so perfect that cellulite had to be Photoshopped onto her butt. She’s not a real woman, like the rest of us. Heaven forfend.
And last week, she officially became a billionaire: this woman, this sex-tape sell-out who has done so much to project a false image of womanliness, empowerment and beauty. How terribly depressing.
Danae or Kim… who is the influencer we’d prefer to influence our daughters? Not the one with a billion in the bank, that’s for sure.
