Top football clubs put on terror alert
POLICE have urged Premier and Football League clubs to issue security advice to fans amid fears their stadiums could be targeted by terrorists.
Counter-terror chief, Supt Dave Roney, said: “While there is no specific intelligence of an increased threat to football grounds, we’ve seen terrorists are prepared to carry out attacks on this type of target.”
Top club chiefs have now agreed to put security advice on their websites and social media.
The warning comes after four UK terror attacks this year, including a suicide bombing at Manchester Arena, which left 22 dead and 59 injured.
