Mo in fight to swerve scrap heap
MO DIAME is facing a fresh fight – to save his Newcastle career.
The midfielder was this week involved in a trainingground scrap with Toon skipper Jamaal Lascelles, a clash that left Jonjo Shelvey with a broken finger after stepping in to separate the warring pair.
Diame, 30, has started only one game this season – the 3-2 Carabao Cup home defeat by Nottingham Forest – and has made five Premier League appearances as a substitute.
Now the Senegalese star must convince Magpies boss Rafa Benitez that he has a future on Tyneside, after quitting international football to concentrate on his club career.
Diame (below), formerly with West Ham and Wigan, joined the Geordies from Hull for £4.5million in the summer of 2016.
Lascelles, 23, signed a new six-year contract with Newcastle only a day after the clash with Diame.
