PRICE..I EVAN A CLUE

- BY DARREN FULLERTON

WEST BROMWICH ALBION star Jonny Evans isn’t fussed what valuation is placed on his head in an increasingly cash rich transfer market.

While Manchester City spent £50m on Spurs right back Kyle Walker in the summer, many baulked at the idea of Pep Guardiola splashing out £30 on the 29-year-old.

In the end, Evans (left) stayed at the Hawthorns and he insists he didn’t feel undervalued when the merits of paying big bucks for a Northern Ireland centre back were being discussed in August.

“Not at all – it’s hard to judge your own value,” he said. “Every year the transfer window comes about and everyone starts kicking off about transfer fees. It was the same last year.

“It’s just the way the market constantly surprises us. Sometimes you look at a player and think he’s worth £15m, then a week later you think ‘actually he’s worth about £25m’.

“How do you put a price on it? I never look at figures and think I’m worth this or that. I just let things take their course.”

Evans has been impressed by City’s table topping start to the season, but insists hehasn’t watched on enviously after a potential recent move to the

Etihad failed to materialise.

Ahead of tonight’s World Cup qualifier in Norway, he said: “It doesn’t matter if it’s Man City or any other team in Europe.

“I’ve played against Man City this year and obviously they are an amazing team. The way they pass and move the ball, it is amazing.”
