Don’t ever trust ducker Zucker
I didn’t warm to Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg after watching the film about him called The Social Network.
Okay, it was just a movie and elements of real events were probably exaggerated but I was left with a strong gut instinct that this guy was someone I would never trust.
And after watching him giving evidence to a US Congressional hearing about how Facebook harvests users’ data without their knowledge, I knew my gut was right.
I don’t have a Facebook account now. I started one and then decided against it. But trying to negotiate the privacy settings, shut it down completely and erase my data was the most frustrating thing I have experienced.
It was precisely that lack of transparency that made me close my account. The most frustrating thing about Zuckerberg’s slippery performance was that the “tech dinosaur” politicians did not have the specialist knowledge to catch him out. He knew he was in control, not them.
The one question I would ask him is: “Why have you refused to come to Britain and answer questions put to you by the UK Parliament?”
If he has nothing to hide, what’s stopping him?
