YES, PRIME MINSTER
YORK CITY aim to end a miserable season on a high against Macclesfield in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.
The Minstermen were relegated to the National League North on the final day of the campaign, just a year after losing Football League status.
Gary Mills’ side, who knocked out National League champions Lincoln in the two-legged semi-final, will also be trying to emulate FC Halifax Town’s achievements of 12 months ago, when The Shaymen won at the national stadium just weeks after dropping into National League North, although they have now regained their place in non-league’s top flight. Mills (below) said: “They went to the final and won it and hopefully we can do the same now and get back up at the first time of asking.”
Opponents Macclesfield beat league runners-up Tranmere to book their trip to Wembley and assistant boss Steve Watson, a former FA Cup finalist with Newcastle, stressed: “When you go into a big occasion like this you want to do yourself justice, to play to your potential.
“A lot of our lads are playing for contracts so it should be a very good and competitive game.”
