Better home loan can put houseinorder

When it comes to saving money, I think I’ve earned my stripes, having presented a show with the guru himself, Moneysaving Expert Martin Lewis. There are many ways to do it – and millions of us have got into the habit of hunting down the best deals on insurance, energy, mobile phone tariffs and so on.

But the thing which could save us the most, is the one we seem most reluctant to do – switching our mortgages to get better rates more often.

HSBC found that those on their standard variable rate could be overpaying by £4,000 compared to switching to their fixed rate deal – ouch!

So, if your summer holiday has left a hole in your pocket, I would strongly advise you to look into fixing it with a more affordable mortgage deal.
