John Lewis mon­ster ad light sells out

SHOP­PERS were dis­ap­pointed yes­ter­day af­ter a night light fea­tured in the new John Lewis Christ­mas TV ad­verts sold out on­line and in some stores.

The £15 light is the gift left for a boy by a mon­ster who sleeps un­der his bed in the £1mil­lion ad aired for the first time on Fri­day.

M&S’s spe­cial edi­tion Padding­ton bear, star of its Christ­mas ad­vert, was also out of stock on­line.

John Lewis de­nied it had been caught on the hop by the surge in de­mand.

A spokes­woman said: “More stock is be­ing made avail­able on­line and it’s still in most shops.”

M&S said 21,500 Padding­tons have sold since its ad was shown last Tues­day and it ex­pects the toy will sell out in a week.
