Zoo ‘outrage’ over escaped lynx shooting
THE zoo that owned the escaped lynx that was shot dead on the orders of the local council says it is “devastated and outraged”.
Lillith – twice the size of a domestic cat – had been missing since October 29.
Borth Wild Animal Kingdom near Aberystwyth, West Wales, had said the animal did not pose a threat. But Ceredigion Council announced she had been killed.
The zoo said on Facebook: “The decision to kill her was not ours and we in no way agreed to or participated in the shooting of our baby Lynx. We are truly devastated and outraged.”
The council said public safety was “paramount”.
