INSPIRATION of the week

WHEN his brother-in-law Andy committed suicide last year, Luke Ambler was determined to create a safe space where men could speak without fear of being judged. The former professional rugby league playerturnedmotivational speaker set up Andy’s Man Club, where men from all walks of life are encouraged to talk to other like-minded men in his home town of Halifax. He also started a social media selfie campaign called #itsokaytotalk, which attracted the support of celebrities including Ricky Gervais. The success of his hashtag made Luke, 27, realise the scale of the male suicide problem and he started a fund to set up Andy’s Man Clubs in other areas. Last week he was named PayPal Crowdfunder of the Year by the JustGiving Awards. ■■andysmanclub.co.uk
