Ul­tra-lux­ury ex­pe­di­tion cruise line Sil­versea has or­dered three new ships. Two will be the de­but of the Evo­lu­tion class and con­structed by Ger­man ship­builder Meyer Werft for de­liv­ery in 2022.

The third is al­ready named Sil­ver Ori­gin and the ex­pe­di­tion ves­sel is to be built by Hol­land’s Ship­yard De Hoop and will sail the Gala­pa­gos with de­liv­ery in March 2020. More young peo­ple are con­sid­er­ing go­ing on a cruise in the next 12 months com­pared to last year. Travel as­so­ci­a­tion Abta’s lat­est Hol­i­day Habits re­port says more than one in 10 of 18 to 34-year-olds (both 12 per cent) are look­ing to take one in the next 12 months, com­pared to 11 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds and 9% of 25 to 34-year-olds in 2017.
