EX­ETER di­rec­tor of rugby Rob Bax­ter re­mained up­beat de­spite be­ing held to a 10-10 draw in their open­ing Eu­ro­pean Cham­pi­ons Cup game at Sandy Park.

Bax­ter was con­fi­dent the Chiefs could make an im­pact this sea­son.

How­ever, they could man­age only one try against MUN­STER from Luke Cowan-Dickie, with Gareth Steen­son adding a penalty and a con­ver­sion. CJ Stander replied with the vis­i­tors’ try, with Joey Car­bery kick­ing a penalty and a con­ver­sion. Bax­ter said: “At the end with a cou­ple of dom­i­nant scrums, we missed an op­por­tu­nity to nick it.”

LE­ICES­TER slumped to a fifth suc­ces­sive de­feat in UL­STER, los­ing 24-10. Alan O’Connor, Will Ad­di­son and Ja­cob Stock­dale landed tries for the hosts.
