Boy, 6, killed by house fire as his mum screams for help
A BOY of six died after being pulled from his blazing house by firefighters as his frantic mother yelled for help.
He was rushed to hospital after crews attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation but he could not be saved.
A resident said: “I heard a commotion and the mother screaming, ‘help me’. A neighbour and I tried to get in for the boy but we just couldn’t.”
Neighbour Jack Hill, 25, said: “I heard screaming outside the house and found it was from the young girl living there. Then I saw her mum.
“I raced to the Chinese takeaway, grabbed their fire extinguisher and tried to get into the house’s upstairs room but the smoke was too thick.”
The end-of-terrace house in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, was the home of a mother and her three children.
Flowers were yesterday left outside following Friday night’s tragedy. The fire service and police are to conduct a joint investigation into the cause.
