Et Me Tu, Brute?

Sunday Mirror - - SAIRAKHAN -

Bullying and harassment in the workplace seems to be alive and well in the one place that should set an example – Parliament. The victim right now is PM Theresa May. The bullies, her own party’s MPs. “The moment is coming, when the knife gets heated, stuck in her front and twisted. She’ll be dead soon,” one wrote. Another added: “She should bring her own noose.” And one exclaimed: “Assassination is in the air.”

How can we ever convince our children to take an interest in politics or respect our law-makers if these kind of people are the flag bearers?

Threats like this in any normal workplace wouldn’t be tolerated, but the message in Parliament is clearly “politics is a dirty business, be prepared to be bullied and harassed”.

The irony is the Government has pledged to eliminate sexual harassment of women and girls by 2030.

Theresa May might need until then to teach her team what #METOO is all about.
