Sunday Mirror - - SAIRAKHAN - BY PAUL VASS

AN Olympic gold medal won by a footballer who was later chairman of Manchester United at the time of the Munich air disaster is tipped to sell for £15,000.

Harold Hardman, whose amateur playing career ended in 1913, was in charge of the club when 23 people, including eight United players and three staff, were killed in the air crash in Germany in 1958.

His medal relates to the 1908 London Games when Great Britain beat Denmark.

It’s being sold by a direct descendant of Hardman, who died in 1965, by auctioneers Mallams of Oxford. Head of jewellery and watches Louise Dennis said: “The family feel it would be nice if it went to a collector or a museum.”
