Customer in a coma after DIY assault

A DIY customer was fighting for life last night after being assaulted in a branch of Screwfix.

The victim had got involved in a bust-up with another customer which left him in a coma.

An air ambulance was called to the store on the Gateway Trade Park in Warrington, Cheshire.

Last night the victim was in a critical but stable condition at Liverpool’s Aintree Hospital.

A 24-year-old man arrested in connection with the 10am assault on Thursday has been released on bail.

Det Sgt Candice Sivori said: “I would like to reassure the community that this appears an isolated incident. While we have made an arrest, we still appeal for informatio­n.”
