Quintana’s Tour boost

NAIRO QUINTANA should be fit for the

Tour de France after escaping serious injury when hit by a car.

The former Giro d’Italia winner was training in Colombia when he was hit by a car trying to overtake him and his support team.

Quintana, 30, faces a fortnight out after tests revealed a swollen knee. The Tour de France starts in August.

He said: “My knee is swollen but luckily they have told us that it’s nothing serious.”

Meanwhile the Tour of Britain, the UK’s biggest cycle race, will conclude on the Isle of Wight for its 2022 renewal.

This year’s event was cancelled due to the coronaviru­s outbreak.
