Once upon a time cellmate killed nonce with his sock

IT was no fairy tale ending for Hans Christian Anderson – he was strangled to death with a sock by his cellmate while serving a 25- year stretch for noncery.

The 58- year- old ( above) was found dead after cellmate Sheddrick Bentley, 38, asked a guard to handcuff him.

Prison officials said they went to Bentley’s cell and found Anderson dead on the floor with a sock around his throat.

Officers at Union Correctional Institution in Volusia County, Florida, tried to revive Anderson, but he was pronounced dead.

In an interview, Bentley said while he was asleep, Anderson grabbed his genitals and “I snapped”.

Bentley – who is already serving 35 years for murder – was charged with murder.

Anderson was not related to the Danish children’s author of the same name, famed for stories such as The Little Mermaid.
