Our little Secret…

-

The Secret Agent, BBC1, Sunday, 9pm THE BBC must have been beside themselves with joy when World Productions and writer Tony Marchant came to them with the idea for The Secret Agent. It’s the story of a man who dabbles in espionage but is then thrust into a deadly plot when his paymasters want him to commit an act of terrorism. Set in 1886, the Tsarist government in Russia believes the British are too soft on the radical left and asks anti- hero Verloc ( played by Toby Jones) to blow up the Greenwich Observatory to waken the Brits from their liberal slumber. The series is based on a 1906 book by Joseph Conrad and also stars 33- year- old Line of Duty babe Vicky McClure as Verloc’s wife. And in This Is England ’ 88, Vicky went totally naked in the bath!
