Nude pyramid snappa meant ‘no disrespect’

A PHOTOGRAPHER who was arrested with a model on a nude shoot in an ancient Egyptian temple says they meant no disrespect to the local culture.

Jesse Walker, from Sydney, Australia, and Belgian model Marisa Papen were quizzed for hours and spent the night in a jail cell in Luxor, southern Egypt, after they were nicked by a temple guard.

Photographs from the shoot – taken for Walker’s firm Enki Eyewear and Papen’s personal blog – were published this week.

The images show Papen, a well- known nude model, posing completely naked on the grounds of the Luxor temple and in Cairo with the pyramids as a backdrop.

The pics have drawn condemnation from Egyptians accusing them of disrespecting their Islamic culture.

But Walker said the images were art and not the porn they had been mistaken for.

He said: “It was my fifth time in Egypt. So I’m very well aware of the culture. It’s a place that I’m close to and I feel very drawn to.

“It’s no disrespect to the Egyptian culture. I love the country. I do this for the love of art.”
