Jamie is a jerk but new critics are headbangers

A BIZARRE thing happened last week. It felt really strange. I almost consulted a doctor. Why? I felt sorry for Jamie Oliver. Yes Jamie ‘ F** king’ Oliver. Pukka, fat- tongued Mockney wanker zipping around trendy parts of London picking up edgy ingredients to cook a meal for his oh- so- right- on pals. That Jamie Oliver. Because, even I don’t like to see a 24- carat ( should that be carrot?) tosser set upon by PC headbangers.

Jamie’s ‘ crime’ was to bring out a new microwavable rice which he branded ‘ jerk’.

Now, as far as I can understand, jerk is a sort of meat seasoning used in Jamaican cooking. And rice not being meat, it may have been an error to bring out ‘ jerk rice’.

But, oh no. Oliver found himself in much deeper trouble than that.

He was accused of ‘ cultural appropriation’ by Labour’s shadow women and equalities minister Dawn Butler.

In case ‘ cultural appropriation’ has passed you by, it’s a hobbyhorse ridden by various touchy minority malcontents who like to accuse white people of nicking all their good ideas.

Therefore, non- Hispanics wearing sombreros, white girls with cornrows in their hair, white rappers – all guilty of this ludicrous ‘ hate crime’. For the love of f** k! People have been borrowing ideas from other cultures for thousands of years. It’s how humanity progresses.

But not to Butler and her pals. To them, it’s just another example of the white man oppressing poor minorities.

The Labour MP Clive Lewis went further.

Writing on Twitter, in response to someone who’d defended Jamie Oliver, he blathered: “We didn’t just ‘ adopt’ other cultures. We actively raped, pillaged, enslaved and destroyed some of them.

“When you genuinely get that you then see a pattern emerge and one @ DawnButlerBrent was pointing out. A trend that hasn’t stopped since slavery: predominantly white people continuing to profit from black culture ( see Elvis, Vanilla Ice, Taylor Swift etc).

“Jamie Oliver isn’t being wicked or mean. He’s just part of the system. But structural racism, created to justify slavery and empire, denies too many black people a fair shot at doing the same thing.” Slavery? For pity’s sake! It’s a packet of boil- in- the- c** ting- bag rice!

They must have been up all night thinking of a way to lump Jamie Oliver and Taylor Swift in with whip- wielding slave owners WHO DIED 200 F** KING YEARS AGO!!!

There’s enough REAL racism, REAL exploitation, REAL injustice and REAL hate knocking about to keep us awake at night.

The fight against these things is not helped by nutcases lobbing brickbats at a spluttering Fanny Craddock wannabe.
