End of the road for bike team
FAMOUS motorcycle display team the White Helmets have completed their final public performance after 90 years of daredevil stunts and acrobatics.
The Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team, on their classic Triumph bikes, took part in their final display at the Preston Military Show yesterday.
The squad performed two displays at Fulwood Barracks before a final salute to deputy commander for HQ North West Colonel Philip Harrison.
Col Harrison said: “This is the final time ever that we will have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking skills of the White Helmets motorcycle display team.
“Formed originally from Royal Signals dispatch riders, they have entertained millions of people over nine decades and done wonders for the Army’s recruiting.”
The final displays saw riders drive through a ring of fire and show off a range of stunts including riding the bikes backwards.
