Sheffield are hit for six by Bandits
BERWICK Bandits beat Sheffield Tigers 50-40 last night to secure their sixth home win on the trot.
A superb match saw some excellent first bends and passing in the opening heats, especially the fifth with elbows flying between Kevin Doolan, Dany Gappmaier and Steve Worrall – the Sheffield guest ending up at the rear of the second home 5-1, the first in heat two from Ashley Morris and Alfie Bowtell.
Heats one and four’s winners, Ryan Douglas and Kyle Howarth met in the sixth; the Sheffield man shot to the front with Gappamaier taking a good second over Douglas in the night’s fourth shared heat taking the score to 22-14.
Heat seven was won well by Lasse Bjerre but Bowtell rode a brilliant three laps to hold Josh Bates at the back until the latter dipped hard under the Bandit guest to take third in a Sheffield 2-4.
Heat eight looked to be set for an away maximum but Graversen, out in front, blew a motor and ground to a halt turning it into a 3-3.
Doolan won heat nine after a battle with Howarth and Gappmaier who took third in a Bandit’s 4-2.
Heat 14’s 5-1 sealed the deal to finish a superb Bandits display.
