Shields stun Quakers
SOUTH Shields pulled off one of the surprises of the FA Cup second qualifying round by beating Darlington from two leagues above them at Blackwell Meadows.
Shields had less possession than Quakers, but they were more ruthless in front of goal.
They took a grip on the game after six minutes, when Robbie Briggs floated a free-kick from the left into the Darlington penalty area, where it was flicked on by Jon Shaw for Dillon Morse to knock home at the far post.
Q u a k e r s had a couple of efforts from the edge of the box after that, with Josh Gillies firing wide from 25 yards, and James Caton dragging a shot wide. The Mariners stunned Quakers by going 2-0 up on 27 minutes.
