Cup is last chance of team glory for Diamonds

Sunday Sun - - Motor Sport -

THE busy and long weekend continues for the Newcastle Diamonds with a massive Cup quarter-final deciding leg against Glasgow tomorrow at Brough Park.

George English confirmed: “After a disappointing season the cup is our last chance of team glory this year, and the lads will be going all out from heat one onwards to maximise their great efforts at Glasgow on Friday. We only went down by two points, 46-44, despite being 10 behind with three races to go.

“I’ve heard some say with that small deficit, it’s our quarter-final for the taking, but to be stupidly over-confident would be our downfall and we cannot take the Tigers lightly as they are also motivated to make a fight of it.

“So it has to be full firepower from the off tomorrow to make sure we get the semi we need with Peterborough. Our season depends on glory tomorrow, and possibly a lot more regarding our future is dependant too.”
