Pres­sure on lead­ers with Town vic­tory

NORTHALLERTON Town moved to within two points of Divi­sion Two lead­ers Tow Law Town with a 4-2 home win against Chester-le-Street Town.

There were four dif­fer­ent scor­ers for Northallerton as Nick Martin’s first-half strike was added to by Colin An­der­son, Aaron Rams­bot­tom and Stephen Cheese­man.

An­drew Clark­son scored a brace for the Ces­tri­ans.

Blyth AFC fluffed their chance to take close in on the pro­mo­tion places as they fell to a sur­prise 1-0 de­feat at bot­tom-of-the-ta­ble Dar­ling­ton RA.

Do­minic Joynes scored the only goal of the game in first-half in­jury time as his side held on to se­cure a valu­able three points.

Whick­ham lie in fourth in Divi­sion Two af­ter a com­fort­able 2-0 away win at Durham City.

Steven Ais­ton put the Lang Jacks into a first-half lead and the points were sealed in sec­ond-half in­jury time by sub­sti­tute Ross Nichol­son.

Heaton Stan­ning­ton con­tin­ued their good form with a com­pre­hen­sive 6-2 win at Al­nwick Town.

Dan Robin­son net­ted a brace for the Stan and that was added to by sin­gle strikes by Adam Lai­dler, Jake Turn­bull, Ethan Tait and Lee John­son.

Dan Thomp­son and Phillip Bright scored for the hosts, who are still look­ing for their first league win since mid-Au­gust.

An Ash La­van brace and a goal from Gary Redman helped Billing­ham Town to a com­fort­able 3-0 home win against West Al­lot­ment Celtic.

The three points leave Town in seventh.

Esh Win­ning came from a goal down to win 3-1 at home against Ry­ton and Crawcrook Al­bion.

Dan Kent, Matthew Al­li­son and Daniel Mann got the goals for Esh af­ter An­thony Brown had given Al­bion a 26th-minute lead.

Paul Kane gave Bedling­ton Ter­ri­ers the lead just be­fore half-time at Thorn­aby.

But his side came away from Tees­dale Park empty-handed af­ter goals from Lewis Mur­phy and Kal­lum Hannah gave the hosts all three points.

And James Tal­bot and Ethan Wood were among the scor­ers as Eas­ing­ton Col­liery came away from Bran­don United with a hard-earned three points af­ter a 3-2 win.
