Star Ginola loses bid for secrecy
FORMER Newcastle star David Ginola has failed in a bid to have reporters barred from a private family court hearing after becoming involved in a dispute over money with ex-wife Coraline Delpin.
Ginola, who played for Tottenham Hotspur after Newcastle United, told a judge she was analysing private issues which should not be revealed in media reports.
Journalists argued that the name “Ginola” had been published on court listings of the case and said some detail of the marriage break-up had already emerged in media reports.
They said there was a public interest in allowing some reporting.
Lawyers representing Ms Delpin said they were “neutral”.
Judge Sarah Gibbons refused to exclude reporters from Wednesday’s hearing at the Central Family Court in London.
She said journalists could name Mr Ginola and his wife and report that she was analysing issues in a dispute about money.
