30 mobiles take in show raid
MORE than 30 mobile phones were stolen from concert-goers at the O2 Academy in Newcastle.
Police are investigating the spate of thefts from people watching the band Rise Against at the Westgate Road venue on Wednesday night.
Officers are now issuing advice to anyone attending large events and urge them to make sure they can feel their property close to them at all times, either in zipped up compartments or pockets.
This advice includes never leaving phones unattended on tables, chairs or in coats or handbags left on the back of chairs.
Inspector Steve Wykes said: “We are investigating these thefts and are appealing for information which could help our inquiries.
“We also want to remind people to keep their mobiles and other valuables safe when they go out for the night.”
