DARLINGTON won their first home league game of the season against previously unbeaten Telford in superb style.

Quakers possessed a huge amount of commitment and energy, and they created enough chances to make the game safe before they managed to do so.

Liam Hughes nearly put them ahead on 15 minutes with a lob in a crowded box, and Tom Elliott fired just over the top.

David Syers couldn’t force the ball home after Luke Trotman had cleverly dribbled into the box, and Harvey Saunders volleyed into the hands of Telford keeper Max Bramley.

But they took a deserved lead after 35 minutes when Stephen Thompson found Jordan Nicholson, who ran forward and struck a delightful left-foot shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
