Team has £8,000 all zipped up for hos­pice

ADREN­A­LINE junkies have raised an amaz­ing £8,000 in aid of St Oswald’s Hos­pice af­ter brav­ing a zip-wire off the Tyne Bridge.

The team of 23 from busi­ness ad­vi­sory firm Rye­croft Glen­ton (RG), which in­cluded man­ag­ing part­ner Chris Rob­son, stepped off the historic land­mark be­fore whizzing al­most 1,000ft di­ag­o­nally down to the Gateshead quay­side be­low.

Staff at the New­castle­based firm reg­u­larly fundraise for the hos­pice, which has cared for a num­ber of the firm’s fam­ily mem­bers dur­ing the char­ity’s 30-year his­tory.

Deborah Gra­ham, a part­ner at RG, paid tribute to the courage of those who took part: “They were all amaz­ing. It was cer­tainly an ex­pe­ri­ence to step off the side of the bridge and slide across the Tyne.

“I am thrilled to have done it, but I won’t be rush­ing to try it again!”

She also paid tribute to sec­re­tary Fiona Hall, who helped co-or­di­nate the fundrais­ing ef­fort, as well as RG staff who turned up to of­fer moral sup­port.

Chris Rob­son added: “I wish to thank all those who helped raise such a mag­nif­i­cent amount for St Oswald’s Hos­pice. It truly was a great ef­fort.”
