GET RIGHT IN THE THIK OF IT

-

Connections of Thikriyaat forked out £10,000 to supplement him for the Doom Bar Celebration Mile and should recoup all that and more with victory in tomorrow’s Goodwood feature.

The supplementary fee is a trifle for an owner such as Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum, but the intent is far from insignificant as the three-year-old has been mentioned a possible future Group One contender for Sir Michael Stoute.

This Group Two prize is an obvious step up the ladder for Thikriyaat following his recent victory in the Thoroughbred Stakes at the Glorious meeting here, where he held off stablemate Forge to make it four wins in five career starts.

His sole defeat came in the Jersey Stakes at Ascot and given the two-anda-quarter-length winner Ribchester has since gone on to Group One glory, the form of that effort stands up very well indeed.

Thikriyaat chas to take another step forward to mix it with the likes of multiple Group winner Toormore, but he has a handy three-year-old allowance and will likely welcome any rain at the Sussex track, too.

Grecian Light can confirm Newmarket form with On Her Toes by lifting the Prestige Stakes.

The Charlie Applebytrained selection finished a one-and-a-half-length second behind Nations Alexander in the Sweet Solera last time, with On Her Toes a further neck back in third.

That was only Grecian Light’s second racecourse outing so she probably still has plenty to learn and is surely capable of making another leap forwards from that run.

Donncha can break a lengthy barren patch in the Goodwood Revival Stakes.

Mr Lupton can prove the star of the show at Beverley by bouncing back to form in the totescoop6 Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes.

There is top-quality evening action at Windsor and Ulysses can prove he is just as effective over 10 furlongs as 12 by claiming the Winter Hill Stakes.
