Jail warning after man admits arson attack
A Wearside man faces jail after admitting causing an arson attack which left a man with serious injuries.
Daniel McCardle, 27, was initially charged with attempted murder following the incident in Ferryhill, County Durham, in July.
When he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court however he pleaded guilty to charges of arson with intent to endanger life and wounding with intent.
In the incident, a house was broken into in Ferryhill before McCardle is alleged to have poured a liquid through a window. A man came out of the property and was then set alight.
The victim suffered substantial burns in the attack.
Following his guilty pleas McCardle, of Coxon Street, in Hendon, was remanded in custody.
He will be sentenced at a later date.
