People just don’t care

Sunderland Echo - - Opinion -

After reading the letters about the rubbish bin collection, let’s get it right.

Gentoo is responsible for the behaviour, and cleanliness of their tenants.

I see my neighbours putting over filled bins out every two weeks.

When the gulls and cats scatter the rubbish all over the streets and people’s gardens they leave it – couldn’t care less.

I’ve watched my neighbour drive through it and go to work and then her boyfriend walks through it and goes out. The mess is left. It’s getting colder and it’s asking to be a magnet for rats.

Are these people bothered – not on your life.

I would like Gentoo to have one of its senior staff go around the streets and give a warning to those tenants who do not give a damn about other people and hygiene.

The second time should be the end, no messing around, Gentoo should make an example.

As to problems in Houghton centre, there is a police station 200 yards from the problem area, but they are to busy filling forms in than to look after the streets.

There has been no police presence since the police stopped living on the council estates.

Makes you wonder why you pay council tax. Richy Mackem
