Unnecessary expense

There is to be a local by-election in Pallion on Thursday, February 1, after the death of Councillor Paul Watson.

I have to ask why, as this could have been left until the May elections putting two seats in contention?

This will cost the city’s taxpayer an estimated £12,000 but what it has shown is more political hypocrisy – this time from the Liberal Democrats.

They have talked about needless spending but forced this election, they talk against councillors getting extra enhanced allowances but both the Lib Dems councillors draw one.

Most deplorable and disrespectful is that Lib Dems delivered leaflets to my parents house on the day of the funeral of the previous councillor.

Is there no any respect left? Obviously not in politics. James Cummings
