A tall order but they’re up for it!
Ingenious inventors from a Sunderland school were hoping to land a national prize.
Five pupils from Monkwearmouth School were among youngsters from 18 schools competing for the regional title at University of Sunderland’s St Peter’s Campus.
They did not win, but all had done superbly well to get to this stage and were commended by the judges.
The overall winner was from Yarm School, Teesside.
The Monkwearmouth team came up with a trio of inventions to help disabled people, children with special needs and residents of the developing world.
All pupils have spent about four months designing and building their inventions.
The competition is a joint venture.
