He added: “I’m dis­ap­pointed in our plan­ners ac­cept­ing it, I don’t think it looks right.”

How­ever, Coun Port­house was told by plan­ning of­fi­cers and other mem­bers of the panel that sev­eral other build­ings on the street, in­clud­ing a petrol sta­tion and for­mer bank, have flat roofs.

Coun Port­house ab­stained while all other panel mem­bers voted to ap­prove the plans.
