RATINGS

Sunderland Echo - - Football -

JON MCLAUGHLIN .................... 8 Not his most commanding at set pieces but made another breathtaking double save with his team just one goal ahead. Absolutely pivotal once more. ADAM MATTHEWS .................... 6 Attacking output was uncharacteristically poor but he did make some important interventions at the other end. TOM FLANAGAN ........................ 6 Height and experience is proving vital in difficult moments for the Black Cats. Fourth clean sheet in a row for his partnership with Baldwin. REECE JAMES ............................. 7 Helped keep the talented Graham Carey quiet on the left flank. Delivering with real consistency. DYLAN MCGEOUCH ..................... 7 Really showing his worth to the team. Disciplined defensively and intelligent on the ball. GEORGE HONEYMAN ................. 6 Broke up plenty of opposition attacks and covered massive distances as usual. CHRIS MAGUIRE ....................... 5 Short of his best but did draw a save from Matt Macey early on. Not able to get into the game in the final third. LYNDEN GOOCH .......................... 6 Persistent and battled hard but did not look as comfortable on the left flank. JOSH MAJA ............................... 5 Found it tough on his return to the starting XI. Struggled with his ankle didn’t get many sights of goal. SUBS JEROME SINCLAIR ................... 6 Unlucky that a couple of dangerous crosses were just out of his reach.
