South of France
Where is it?
Perched high in the hills of Provence in Peymeinade, around 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Cannes.
What’s the appeal?
This lovely 17 bedroom bastide was once home to local legend Brigitte Bardot, and boasts two villas with their own heated swimming pools, a wine-producing vineyard, and mature fruit and olive trees.
What makes it special?
Location and vintage charm come together to create an iconic holiday destination. The center of Cannes and the French Riviera is around 30 minutes away and to the north are the Esterel mountains and Provençal countryside. Edge Retreats have added the villa to their portfolio of the world’s most luxurious villas, enabling guests to easily rent the villa for as long as they want via the website.
A private Michelin-starred chef can be arranged or you can bring your own. The traditional kitchen is cosy and welcoming, and there are a miriad other locations to sit down ‘à table’, including private off-bedroom patios, a large shaded space on the main terrace and there is a large pizza over poolside.
There are two large, heated infinity swimming pools, one outside each villa, and one enjoys an adjoining 3 x 3-metre hot tub. There is also a steam room and an authentic pétanque pitch.
Our favourite room
Bastide Provençal is split up into two properties, the main house with original stone tower and a separate villa. There are 17 bedrooms to choose from overall, the biggest of which is the main house and enjoys a large bathroom with vintage tiles and a private living room.
