5 minutes with... protest ambassador

Surf Girl - - – Snap Shot – - Lucie Donlan

LUCIE, WHAT DOES SURFING MEAN TO YOU? Fun, relaxation, enjoyment and – most of all – it’s a very social thing for me. I can always guarantee I’ll find someone I know already in the surf and, even if I don’t know them, I quite often end up chatting with the other surfers – in fact I’m probably guilty of doing more chatting than catching waves!

THE BEST BIT OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

In life the best advice I could give is: if it stresses you out – ditch it. Stay humble, be kind and, most of all, trust your journey.

WHEN YOU’RE NOT SURFING YOU ARE... Probably spending some time with my little dog, Beswick.

SO HOW’S LIFE ON THE PROTEST TEAM?

I’ve been with Protest for three years now and I love being part of the team. They have some amazing riders who absolutely rip and are all so friendly and full of fun. There’s no competition between us and I love that; they know that my surfing isn’t up to their standards but they respect me for what I do as an Ambassador for Protest Women by promoting surfing through a healthy and active lifestyle. Everyone on the team offers something unique and different in what they do, which Protest recognise and I think that’s what makes them stand out over other lifestyle brands.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR?

I’ve got some really exciting things lined up for the rest of the year – surf judging with Surfing England, modelling, filming and a family surfing holiday in Portugal. I was also a contestant on an ITV show that’s being aired in the autumn, so I’m looking forward to seeing that. Then I’ll hopefully be off to Bali for the first time in the winter.
