Van driver crashes into pub
expecting a busy wednesday evening.
“I think, I was talking to our chef, there was meant to be a party as well,” he said. “It would have been busy this evening as well.”
but he says staff will stiff have something to do - the Albany bed and breakfast will remain open.
It isn’t the first time a vehicle has made contact with the pub’s roof - the roof was chipped only 18 months ago according to a member of staff at the pub.
Neighbour Valerio Gentile, who lives in Sydenham road, discovered the crash when he returned from the shops. “I was coming back home and I saw the van crashing on the path,” he said. “It was pretty weird, it’s not something that you see every day.”
A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “Surrey Police were called to Sydenham road in Guildford at 10.30am following reports of a vehicle colliding into a pub. The fire service are also in attendance. No one is believed to have suffered any injuries.”
