High fly with fly tyers at the Ashley Park Hotel
AFTER 25 years of meeting at Effingham Golf Club, the Surrey branch of the Fly Dressers’ Guild is on the move.
As from next Monday (September 11) the meetings will be held at the Ashley Park Hotel in Walton.
Meetings are held from 8.30pm-10.30pm on the second Monday of the month.
Ashley Park Hotel is opposite the railway station, with parking available at the hotel or the railway station car park.
A spokesman said: “The only exception is that maybe we will change the February date to coincide with the Fly Fishing show held in Staffordshire each year, so that we can have one of the international fly tyers talk to us on the following Monday – we would email members about this.
“Our meetings consist of talks by some of the leading experts in their field, showing you how things are done, with film shows about fishing in other countries.
“We have a varied programme with many other general topics – something for all fisherfolk.
“We also hold fly tying classes at Byfleet Village Hall.
“We also fish and hold fishing outings, and barbecues two or three times a year.
“We meet from September to May.
“In the summer, we fish.”
