A3 sees partial road closure
A SECTION of the A3 in Guildford is being closed overnight to ensure the safety of workers during resurfacing works over the next four weeks.
Kier Highways, on behalf of Highways England, will work along the southbound carriageway from the Burpham Interchange to the Stoke Interchange.
This began on Wednesday, with the closures taking place Monday to Friday and not at the weekends.
From 9pm to 6am, Highways England will be fully closing the carriageway from Burpham to Compton with a diversion in place via the A3100, A246, A322, A31 and B3000.
Kier Highways stated in a letter: “Highways England undertakes the majority of resurfacing works on the Strategic Road Network using a lower noise material.
“This material is thinner than conventional hot rolled asphalt and has qualities which reduces noise levels.”
Further work on the southbound carriageway from the University Interchange to the A31 Hog’s Back is expected but yet to be scheduled.
“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused or disruption during our work. We will make every effort to manage noise levels to minimise the local impact,” the letter concluded.
