Mole­sey stars at world fi­nals

MOLE­SEY Boat Club will again be strongly rep­re­sented at the team GB squad pre­pares for the Row­ing World Cham­pi­onships.

The heats be­gin at Sara­sota-Braden­ton, Florida on Sun­day, af­ter the venue es­c­paed se­vere dam­age from Hur­ri­cane Irma, which it was ex­pected would hit the area.

And seven mem­bers of the Mole­sey club will be among the Bri­tish con­tin­gent which has pri­ori­tised World Cham­pi­onship gold this year.

Sam Scrim­geour will be part of the light­weight men’s pair and Sur­biton Olympian Moe Sbihi will be part of the men’s four squad.

Henry Field­man will cox the men’s eight and Re­becca Gir­ling will be in the women’s fours boat. Club­mates Anna Corderoy and Oliver Stan­hope will be rep­re­sent­ing Mole­sey and GB in the para events, in the women’s and men’s fours and Oliver Wynne-Grif­fith, from Guild­ford, is among the re­serves. The Mole­sey row­ers will be joined in the GB squad by Shep­per­ton’s Mathew Tar­rant, who will be in the men’s fours crew along with Sbihi.

And Tom Bar­ras, from Staines, is GB’s men’s sin­gles rower.
