Appeal by police after sexual assault
WEYBRIDGE: A man has been arrested following a sexual assault in Weybridge. The incident took place in Church Street just before midnight on Saturday September 6. The victim, a woman in her 40s, was in Church Street opposite St James’ Parish Church when she was assaulted by a man. A member of the public intervened and has spoken to police as part of the investigation. A man in his 40s has been charged with assault, sexual assault, racial harassment, common assault and a public order offence. He has been released on bail and is due to appear at North Surrey Magistrates’ Court on January 2. Investigating officer Detective Constable Carly Humphreys, said: “This incident occurred in a busy location on a Saturday night so passing motorists and pedestrians may well have seen something happening.
