FIRE crews attended a boat blaze at Penton Hook Marina in Chertsey on Thursday night. Firefighters from Egham, Staines and Chertsey attended the scene shortly after 10pm alongside police and ambulance crews but it emerged that no-one was on board the vessel. Boat units were deployed and the crews were at the scene for around 90 minutes. The cause of the fire is not yet known. MDL Marinas, which owns Penton Hook, confirmed that the fire was on a customer’s boat. A spokesman said: “The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The swift action of our staff and the emergency services prevented any further damage. We are now working with the owner and relevant parties to investigate the fire further.”
