THE Hersham Residents’ Association (HRA) is keen to promote and support community activities like the Christmas event taking place on Saturday. Please come and join us, and see the Mayor of Elmbridge officially turn on the village’s Christmas tree lights at 5pm on Hersham Green. He will be ably assisted by a special guest from the North Pole, who will be arriving by sleigh at about 4.30pm. The Promenade Choir will warm things up at the
David Lock Hersham Green shopping centre from 4.15pm and help lead carols around the Christmas tree on the green from 4.45pm. The public will be encouraged to join in, with carol sheets provided. Bring your lanterns and torches so you can see the words. The Promenade Choir is an excellent youth choir and I hope you can come along and appreciate them. Mince pies and mulled wine will be available after- wards at The Watermans Arms from 5pm to 6pm, when the mayor will draw the winning raffle ticket for the Waitrose hamper. Christmas is a good opportunity to support the local shops so why not wear your best (most outrageous) Christmas jumper and do some of your Christmas shopping in Hersham during the afternoon?
A range of other activities have been arranged in the Hersham Green centre. There will be carols from Churches Together in Hersham at 11am, plus a children’s shopping quiz. Mince pies, mulled wine and chestnuts will be available during the afternoon. Don’t miss the Hersham Hounds gathering on the green at 12.30pm and take a look at the local history display in The Watermans Arms from 3pm to 4pm. You can join Councillor Roy Green and others to discuss old Hersham over a drink. Please come along and help Hersham mark Christmas together as a community.
