Voices find Wey to help hospices
FOLLOWING its tradition of raising money to help Woking and Sam Beare Hospices every winter, Wey Voices is holding its annual Christmas Concert at All Saints’ Church in Woodham Lane, Woking, tomorrow (Friday) at 7.45pm The running costs of the two hospices are £21,918 per day – that amounts to £8 million per year, of which only £1.9m is funded by the government. This year and next year will be particularly busy and expensive times for the hospices as they will be moving a lot of their facilities to Goldsworth Park to help improve their services as well as making changes at Sam Beare in Weybridge. Wey Voices will be singing All things bright and beautiful by John Rutter, a great favourite of the choir members, along with Psallite Gloria Deo by Joyce Eilers. Deo Gracias by Benjamin Britten and My Lord has Come by WillW he programme.Todd are also on Some lighter pieces will also be performed, such as Here Comes Santa Claus and Have yourself a merry little Christmas as well as some well-known carols. During the intermission the audience will be entertained by the Four Five Sax, a group of jazz musicians, one of whom is a member of Wey Voices. Mulled wine and other refreshments will follow.
