Voices find Wey to help hos­pices

FOL­LOW­ING its tra­di­tion of rais­ing money to help Wok­ing and Sam Beare Hos­pices ev­ery win­ter, Wey Voices is hold­ing its an­nual Christ­mas Con­cert at All Saints’ Church in Wood­ham Lane, Wok­ing, to­mor­row (Fri­day) at 7.45pm The run­ning costs of the two hos­pices are £21,918 per day – that amounts to £8 mil­lion per year, of which only £1.9m is funded by the gov­ern­ment. This year and next year will be par­tic­u­larly busy and ex­pen­sive times for the hos­pices as they will be mov­ing a lot of their fa­cil­i­ties to Goldsworth Park to help im­prove their ser­vices as well as mak­ing changes at Sam Beare in Wey­bridge. Wey Voices will be singing All things bright and beau­ti­ful by John Rut­ter, a great favourite of the choir mem­bers, along with Psal­lite Glo­ria Deo by Joyce Eil­ers. Deo Gra­cias by Ben­jamin Brit­ten and My Lord has Come by WillW he pro­gramme.Todd are also on Some lighter pieces will also be per­formed, such as Here Comes Santa Claus and Have your­self a merry lit­tle Christ­mas as well as some well-known car­ols. Dur­ing the in­ter­mis­sion the au­di­ence will be en­ter­tained by the Four Five Sax, a group of jazz mu­si­cians, one of whom is a mem­ber of Wey Voices. Mulled wine and other re­fresh­ments will follow. En­try is £7, with chil­dren go­ing free. There will be a raf­fle for the hos­pices and a re­tir­ing col­lec­tion.
