Jump threat man is talked down

CHERT­SEY: A man was talked down by the emer­gency ser­vices after threat­en­ing to jump from a rooftop on Fri­day. Sur­rey Po­lice of­fi­cers and fire crews from Chert­sey were called to Pyr­croft Road at around 9.40pm fol­low­ing re­ports of a con­cern for safety. On ar­riv­ing at the scene, they found a man on the roof of a four-storey build­ing threat­en­ing to jump. Two fire en­gines and an aerial lad­der truck were at the scene. After an hour, of­fi­cers on the aerial lad­der were able to talk the man down and he was low­ered to safety. Pyr­croft Road was closed to traf­fic dur­ing the ne­go­ti­a­tions.
