122 years of thank yous from the Herald
THIS is the final edition of the Surrey Herald, but we are not saying goodbye. We will be back from Friday December 26, and every Friday, in the pages of the new Runnymede and Spelthorne edition of the Surrey Advertiser and the extended Elmbridge edition of the Surrey Advertiser, where we very much hope you will be joining us. So all that remains to be said is thank you. Thank you to the advertisers who have used our pages to get their messages out to a wide audience. Thank you to the newsagents who have sold our newspaper over many years and to the paper boys and girls who have braved the wind and rain to deliver it to your door. Thank you to the thousands of people who have let us tell their stories in our pages, sent in letters and photographs, called us with tips about breaking news and shared their sporting triumphs. Thank you to the hundreds of staff who over more than a century have kept you abreast of the news, illustrated stories with their photographs, written headlines, sold advertising and (hopefully) kept you entertained. Thank you to the politicians who we have both praised and berated in these pages. But, most of all, thank you to you, the readers, who have kept us on our toes all these years and enjoyed the fruits of our labours. This isn’t the end, it’s the beginning of a new chapter. Join us next week in the Surrey Advertiser.
